ORIGINAL: Fortnite update 19.40 is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Android, and Nintendo Switch. Epic Games announced the next major Fortnite update on Twitter, with a March 1 release date and a 9 a.m. GMT launch time. Needless to say, as a major numbered update, the next patch will be accompanied by an extended period of server downtime while Epic performs necessary maintenance. While the headline new feature has not been revealed, a recent Epic tweet indicates that additional superhero content is on the way.
"Get ready to Swing into the v19.40 update scheduled for March 1st," Epic writes in a tweet. "Downtime will begin at 4:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, with matchmaking disabled 30 minutes prior."
According to the tweet, Epic is prepping new Spider-Man skins and/or items for Fortnite.
Additionally, Epic Games is reportedly planning to release a new Batman skin to coincide with the film's release.
That's in addition to the Naomi Osaka skins and items, not to mention the Naomi Osaka Cup on March 2.

General fixes and issues under investigation:
- In the Lobby, Outfits Occasionally Glow with Blue FX
- Occasionally, while in the lobby, player outfits will glow a bright blue 'hologram' effect.
- When using a controller, the Discover menu may become unresponsive.
- On rare occasions, players may encounter an unresponsive Discover menu UI when using a controller.
Battle Royale fixes and issues under investigation:
- Quadcrasher Is Uncontrollable While Flying
- While piloting the Quadcrasher in the air, players are unable to use movement keys.
- The textures of the tree leaves appear to be low-resolution.
- When playing in Performance Mode, players may notice that the tree leaves are less detailed than intended.
Creative fixes and issues under investigation:
- Storm will begin prior to the timer indicated in the UI.
- We are aware of an issue that causes the storm movement to begin prior to the timer indicated in the UI.
- It is not possible to copy/paste a barrier device that extends beyond the Island barrier.
- We are aware of a bug that prevents creators from copying/pasting the barrier device if it extends beyond the Island barrier.
- Using multiple devices in a set reduces the number of channels that can be received.
- We are aware of a problem that is causing copied devices to receive signal channels that are not available.
- Selecting and relocating building to prop pieces multiple times will result in consistent misalignment.
- We are aware of an issue that results in misaligned buildings for creators when multi-selecting pieces.
Switch & Mobile fixes and issues under investigation:
- It appears as though Aim Assist is not working on Switch.
- We're looking into a potential issue that could prevent aim assist from working on Nintendo Switch when using motion controls.
- Flashing Black Textures Can Be Seen in the Sky
- Players using Samsung S21 and OnePlus9 devices may notice a flickering black streak across the sky.
- OnePlus 9 users do not have the option to switch to 90 frames per second.
- We are aware that players using OnePlus 9 devices are currently unable to play at 90 frames per second. This will be addressed in a subsequent update.
