Introduction-CACL

The Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL) is a national level network / campaign of different organizations that have joined hands to raise the issue of child labour in India, and actively intervene where children’s rights are being violated. The process of formation began in 1992, when like-minded individuals and groups such as TDH (Germany), YUVA and Action for the Rights of the Child (ARC) came together to launch a campaign for the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC-32) by the Government of India. Subsequently it expanded into an awareness campaign about the extent and dimensions of child labour in India. What initially started as a media campaign was eventually transformed into a large national network focusing on the eradication of child labour. The CACL as a organization was launched on the 13th of February 1993. Today it has expanded both in terms of member organizations as well as coverage. The network  exists in 21 states.
