The goal of mental health counseling is to assess and treat a person’s mental health. They provide a variety of services, including:
- Assessment: The counselor will conduct a thorough assessment of the patient's mental state. This includes performing a diagnostic interview and developing an understanding of their symptoms, current level of functioning, social situation, and any other factors that might be relevant to their diagnosis.
- Treatment: Once the counselor has conducted the assessment and determined what type or types of treatment are most appropriate for the patient's condition, they will offer them treatment interventions that are tailored to their needs.
