One of the major producers of high-quality alloy steel p92 welded pipe is Eckhardt Steel India. To create alloy steel, the steel is alloyed with a number of different elements in total proportions ranging from 1.0% to 50% by weight. In addition to carbon, alloy steel p92 welded pipe also contains sizable amounts of a few regularly used elements including silicon, sulfur, and phosphorous, as well as metals like nickel, chromium, tungsten, molybdenum, silicon, manganese, and vanadium. The steel is enhanced with higher chemical resistance, strength, and hardness when certain alloying elements are added.

The reheating temperature sometimes referred to as the super-critical temperature, can be designed as high as 621°C in order to increase the heat efficiency of the reheating steam pipeline in power plants. In order to address the heat-resisting needs of such a high-temperature power unit, the United States originally created ASTM A335 P92 alloy steel in the late 1980s. The alloy steel P92 is an upgraded variant of ASTM A335 P91 alloy that contains carefully monitored amounts of boron and nitrogen as well as the deliberate addition of tungsten, vanadium, and niobium. It also has a smaller quantity of molybdenum to fine-tune the ferrite/austenite ratio.

P92 steel sometimes referred to as 9Cr-2W, has the UNS K92460 designation. According to Code Case 2179-8, it may be utilized in the building of ASME BPVC Section I and Section III, Division 1. Based on alloy steel p92 welded pipe has a molybdenum equivalent (Mo+0.5W) that is about 1.5% higher than SA-335 P91 steel while also containing a tiny quantity of boron. The level of the Mo element has been appropriately reduced while a little amount of W has been added. After the aforementioned alloying and upgrading, its high-temperature corrosion and oxidation resistance is comparable to other widely used heat-resistant steels of the 9% Cr class, but its high-temperature strength and creep qualities have been enhanced.
