Ihram is an utmost necessity of Hajj and Umrah. Anyone coming to Makkah with an intention of Hajj or Umrah must know Ihram is an essential part of this divine journey and it is prohibited to cross the Miqaat stations without being in the state of Ihram. Every year and every month Muslims perform Umrah with their Umrah packages 2023. One must know the sanctity of Ihram and things that you shouldn’t do in the state of Ihram to avoid any violation. There is a set of prohibitions for the state of Ihram. We are highlighting these in detail down below.
The following acts come out to be prohibited when a pilgrim enters the state of Ihram.
Fragrances: It is not allowed to use any sort of fragrance when you are in Ihram. Ihram has to be fragrant-free. Pilgrims must not wear any perfumes, deodorants, spray, mist or ittar.
Scented soaps & shampoo: Though washing hair and taking shower is not prohibited in the state of ihram, as shampoo, shower gels and soaps are also scented, it is advised not to use any fragrant product. Well, keeping this in mind; now scent-free soaps have been introduced, that can be used as shampoo as well.
Veil: Women are not allowed to put a veil on their faces, or wear hand gloves.
Naked heads: Men are not allowed to cover their heads with any cloth. Whether it is a cap or a chaddar, they are required to keep their head uncovered. (Carrying an umbrella to prevent the sun is another thing, which is not restricted)
Stitched clothing for men: Men have not to wear any kind of stitched for example undergarments and, socks. They must wear their Ihram to cover their all body well except one shoulder.
Clipping nails: Make sure you take a purifying bath and remove all impurities such as nails, and hairs from private areas before you leave for Umrah. It is prohibited to trim nails when you are in Ihram.
Cutting Hair: No one can get a haircut when they are in Ihram. It is strictly advised not to get your hair cut.
Getting Married: A man or woman can get married anytime, but not when they are in the state of Ihram! Getting married come out to be a restricted act in Ihram!
Engagement in sexual activity: Man and woman should maintain distance when they are on the holy journey. They should not get intimate and must not engage in sexual activity wearing Ihram.
Hunting an animal: Hunting animals was a source of getting food ages ago, and that was why it became a restricted act to hunt any animal. It is valid to date.
Cutting down a tree: In the light of many hadiths, it is a rejected act to cut down a tree. Islam is a beautiful religion it teaches us to take care of every living thing. That is why cutting down a tree in Ihram or out of Ihram is the most disliked act, and highly discouraged in the state of Ihram
Killing an insect: Once you enter Ihram, you should not kill any living thing! It might be an insect you are prohibited to kill it until or unless it poses a threat to you, then you can kill it in self-defence.
Smoking or taking drugs: Islam highly condemns taking drugs and smoking. It is against the sanctity of Al-Haram to enter such state. It is highly restricted not to consume any kind of drug in the state of Ihram; even if it is against the sacredness of Ihram.
Engaging in a quarrel or fight: It is highly appreciated to maintain respect towards other Humans. One must not engage in an argument or dispute in the state of Ihram. It is prohibited to take part in any fight and use foul language.
