The scam that law enforcement officials have called the “Phoner Toner” scam is basically a telemarketer calling your employees to fast talk them into buying toner or other consumables at a perceived discount. The resulting invoice, however proves to be far from the bargain they stated.
The “Phoner Toner” scam involves a series of phone calls in hopes to get a recipient that may be new and unsure about their infrastructure and give them information freely. In many cases this is posing as a vendor or perhaps a survey giver.
