Tata Sons has announced the appointment of Campbell Wilson as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of its airline Air India.

Important Facts:

  • Campbell Wilson is currently the CEO of Scoot Air, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines.

  • Singapore Airlines (SIA) is a Tata Group joint venture partner in airline expansion.

  • The Tata group took over the control of Air India from the government on 27 January. The Tata group had made the highest bid for the debt-ridden airline.

  • Wilson's appointment comes after Turkey's Ilkar IC decided not to take the role of Chief Executive of Air India.

  • Wilson has 26 years of experience in both full service airlines and low cost airlines.
