OSOP Scheme promoting Vocal for Local

Vocal for Local is a revolutionary and innovative solution to promote OSOP policy. It assists in creating a online presence for thousands of stores for retail, bakeries, medical shops, and bakeries which make up the internet traditional offline retail sector in India. The OSOP Scheme is One Station One Product launched by the Ministry of Railway in 2022. It is among the most innovative plans that has been announced to benefit the citizens of India up to now.
The primary goals that are the focus of OSOP Scheme are as follows :
1.) Promoting the 'Vocal for Local vision of the Government of India.
2.) The market is created for indigenous or local products.
3.) Giving train passengers to discover the rich culture of India and also to purchase indigenous products and local goods.
4.) In addition, creating income opportunities for those who are marginalised in society.
Railways should have fixed stalls/outlets at stations to showcase selling, and giving greater exposure to local and indigenous goods. Railways must determine the locations, products eligible available for sale, and the Vocals local vendors in the same manner.
To ensure the finest quality items, certain guidelines have been formulated to facilitate the process in identifying and appraising products that are :
1.) The items that are specifically identified for a specific station have to come of an indigenous origin.
2.) The range of categories of products that are included include -
a.) The textiles as well as handlooms.
b.) Local agricultural products/processed, as well processed foods.
C.) All kinds of handicrafts and artefacts.
D.) Traditional clothes that are sourced from the local region.
3.) Locally produced items must be accompanied by a Geographical Indications that have been approved by Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
Criteria for eligibility:
The selection of participants in the OSOP policy could be determined in light of the fact that benefits must be available to the most marginalized groups of society. Below are the different groups of individuals who will receive the top priority for gaining the benefits offered by the program :
- A) A) Holder of the Artisan / Weaver identification card, issued by the Development Commissioner Handicrafts or Development Commissioner Handloom or the required State / Central Government Authority.
- b) Weavers and artisans who are and craftsmen in Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED) and the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC) and the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and so on.
- C) Self Help Groups registered with PMEGP (Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme).
- d) The financially backward segments of society.
Guidelines to identify and approve OSOP Outlets
OSOP Outlets must comprise fixed stalls or kiosks and mobile/portable trolleys, or stalls.
1.) The quantity, location and the nature of OSOP Outlets in stations should be approved by DRM to be included within the station's design, but subject to a the maximum amount of OSOP outlets that do not exceed two outlets per platform.
2.) A well-standardized OSOP Outlets will be built by the zonal railways in accordance with the plans supplied by the railroad board.
3.) Other issues like delays on platforms and disruptions for passengers must be prevented. Safety of passengers on platforms and when embarking or deboarding, should be guaranteed.
Allotment of OSOP Outlets:
1.) Applications are accepted by the specific divisions of newspapers and social media apps. advertising at railway stations, for the temporary allocation to the OSOP outlets.
2.) Applications can be accepted on a regular basis, and a record of these applications must be kept in a time- and date-based manner.
3.) The designated box should be located at the entrance of the Station Manager or Master for taking applications.
4.) The applicant can submit an application along with required documents for eligibility and the contact information in the drop box that is designated.
