ISO doesn't perform Certification
At ISO, we develop International norms, similar to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, but we aren't involved in their Certification and don't issue Certificates. This is performed by external Certification bodies, therefore a company or association can not be certified by ISO.
Still, ISO's Committee on Conformity Assessment( CASCO) has produced a number of norms related to the Certification process, which are used by Certification bodies. Read further about CASCO norms.
ISO Certification – the provision by an independent body of written assurance(an instrument) that the product, service, or system in question meets specific conditions.
Accreditation – the formal recognition by an independent body, generally known as a delegation body, that an instrument body operates according to transnational norms.
Choosing a Certification body
When choosing a Certification body, you should
estimate several Certification bodies.
Check if the Certification body uses the applicable CASCO standard
Check if it's accredited. Accreditation isn't mandatory, and non-accreditation doesn't inescapably mean it isn't estimable, but it does give independent evidence of capability. To find an accredited Certification body, communicate with the public delegation body in your country or visit the International Accreditation Forum.
